Joop has been playing the drums since he was fourteen.
He took over his brother’s drum kit because his brother did not like it…
At seventeen he joined Lady Lake, a progressive-rock band from Deventer performing original material. He stayed with the group until 1982, when the band stopped for a while. Together they recorded one album, No Pictures. Lady Lake is still active today.
Afterwards Joop played with several bands, including Supply, Delay, Muesca, and Soulfever.
He performed with Soulfever from 2004 to 2016. In 2024 they reunited for a special jubilee concert and decided to play again a few times a year just for the fun!
After moving from Deventer to Amsterdam in 2022, Joop began looking for a new musical adventure and after a few short-term projects he found it… at TIMBR!
In addition to playing drums, Joop also contributes backing vocals.
